A Village Builds a Business

Due to pandemic-related issues, I found myself without a job in September 2024. While it was not unexpected, it was still tough. Like most of us, much of my identity is tied up in my work. I have served nonprofit organizations for a long time. I love my work, and it was hard to let it go.

After much consideration and conversations with several colleagues, I decided to open a consulting firm. I owned and then co-owned a boutique association management company for 14 years. Ten years ago, we transformed it, I took a backseat, and my good friend and colleague, Ann Macfarlane, took the helm of Jurassic Parliament.

After working for others for a decade, I am looking forward to being independent again. I am eager to apply the depth and breadth of my experiences in new and unique ways. That’s one of the pleasures of being a consultant; working with multiple clients means overcoming different challenges.

My dedication to a collaborative approach continues to deepen. Over and over again, group process wins the day. In small groups and large - committees, boards, and entire memberships can overcome the obstacles they face. With the fulcrum of a common purpose and the lever of a democratic process, a group of dedicated volunteers can move the world.

Building this little business was a collaborative effort and I am grateful for the friends and colleagues who helped me. Firstly, and most importantly, I am grateful for my husband, Michael Galvin. He has always been my champion and encouraged me to start this new business.

I want to thank my good friend, Michael LaTour for all his marketing expertise and acumen. He built this website, developed the logo, and has a hand in all my marketing materials. My colleague and buddy, Gary Davis, spent a fun afternoon taking photos of me for this website. Finally, I am grateful for the other friends and colleagues who have been so kind and encouraging. I could not have done it without you!

With this new business, I hope to help nonprofit membership organizations leverage their collective experience and wisdom to solve the problems that they face. I am here to help with strategic planning, board development, event planning, committee support, and administrative services.

Give me a call or drop me a note – let’s see how we can work together.
